Devices

A device in TimePally is an Android terminal where members clock in and out. Each device gets a 6-digit activation code when you register it; you type that code into the TimePally Android app to pair the terminal with your account. This page is where you register new terminals, monitor whether they’re online, mark one device per location as “master”, and reactivate or delete devices when things change.

Getting there

Click Devices in the left sidebar (Android icon).

What you’ll see

  • A short editor form at the top: Name / Description, Location, Create Device button, Clear button.
  • A Filter by Location dropdown below the form.
  • A grid of every device for your organisation with columns:
    • Name: what you called it
    • Code: the 6-digit activation code
    • Location
    • Activated: green “Yes” once the terminal pairs successfully
    • Master: green “Yes” if it’s the master device for its location
    • Activated At: when the terminal completed activation
    • Last Seen: the most recent heartbeat, with a “X minutes ago” caption underneath

Click any row to open the Activation History dialog for that device.

Common tasks

Register a new device

  1. Type a Name / Description (e.g. “Front desk tablet”).
  2. Pick a Location.
  3. Click Create Device. A green notification appears with the new 6-digit code (e.g. “Device created with code: 482137”). The code is also visible in the grid’s Code column.
  4. Install the TimePally Android app on the terminal and use the code to activate it.

Find an activation code you’ve already created

The 6-digit code is shown in the grid’s Code column. You don’t need to memorise it after registration; just open this page.

Set a device as the master for its location

  1. Click the device row to open the Activation History dialog.
  2. Click Set as Master at the bottom of the dialog and confirm.

Note: Each location has at most one master device. Setting a new master automatically removes master status from the previous master in the same location.

Reactivate a device (e.g. moving to new hardware)

  1. Click the device row in the grid.
  2. In the Activation History dialog, click Reactivate.
  3. A red warning dialog explains that this will disconnect the device, wipe its local data, and release the code for a new activation.
  4. Type the device code into the input field to enable the Reactivate button.
  5. Click Reactivate. The terminal will need to be paired again using the same code.

Delete a device

  1. Click the device row.
  2. In the Activation History dialog, click Delete.

Note: You cannot delete an activated device. Reactivate it first (which un-pairs it), then delete.

View activation history

Clicking any row opens a dialog listing every successful activation of that device: when it happened, plus the device properties recorded at the time (Android version, model, app version, etc.). This is useful for auditing hardware changes.

Tips

  • Last Seen uses your local time zone. If a device’s “X minutes ago” stops updating, the app isn’t reaching TimePally: check Wi-Fi or the app status on the terminal.
  • The number of devices you can register per location is capped by your subscription plan. When you hit the cap, Create Device shows a warning. See Subscription to raise the limit. Trial accounts have no device cap.
  • The activation code is unique per device and stays the same across reactivations: that’s why deleting an activated device is blocked: it could leave a paired terminal pointing at a missing record.

Note: Create, Reactivate, and Delete all require an active subscription. Set as Master doesn’t have the same gate but still respects organisation-level limits.
