Holiday Calendars
The Holidays tab is where you manage the public-holiday list that TimePally treats as non-working days. Holidays don’t need a leave entry per member: once a date is on the active calendar, every member is considered off that day, and attendance reports skip the absence flag.
Getting there
Click Time Off & Holidays in the sidebar, then click the Holidays tab.
What you’ll see
- A Calendar dropdown at the top selecting which calendar’s holidays to view. The default calendar (if one exists) is pre-selected; otherwise the first one is used.
- A refresh icon next to the dropdown.
- Year buttons (last year, this year, next year) for filtering by year.
- An Add Holiday button on the right.
- A grid of holidays for the selected calendar/year with: Holiday Name, Start Date, End Date, and Actions (edit, delete).
Common tasks
View public holidays for next year
- Pick the calendar from the dropdown.
- Click the next year button.
- The grid updates to show that year’s entries.
Add a custom holiday
- Click Add Holiday.
- Fill in the dialog:
- Calendar (required)
- Holiday Name (required): e.g. “Founder’s Day”
- Start Date (required) and optional End Date for multi-day holidays
- Mark as tentative: checkbox if the date isn’t confirmed yet
- Repeats every year: if ticked, the date is treated as recurring
- Optional shortened day rule: click + Add shortened day rule to set an Office closes at time and a Note. Use this for half-days (e.g. close at 1pm on Christmas Eve).
- Click Save.
Edit or delete a holiday
- Edit: click the pencil icon, change fields, save.
- Delete: click the trash icon and confirm.
Tips
- Nigerian public holidays import automatically. A background job runs on app startup (for the current year) and again every December 1st at 2am (for the next year), pulling from the Calendarific service for country
NG. You don’t need to enter them manually: they appear in the grid for whichever calendar has country codeNG. - A holiday with no End Date is treated as a single-day holiday.
- Shortened day rules don’t make the day a non-working day: they just record the alternative closing time. Use a regular full-day holiday entry if the office is closed.
Note: Add Holiday requires an active subscription. The Calendar dropdown only lists existing calendars; there’s no visible UI on this tab to create a new calendar from scratch (that may live elsewhere or be added later).
