Schedules

A schedule tells TimePally when a member is expected to be present for their assigned activity, such as work, classes, or other engagements. The schedule controls which days count as work days, what counts as on-time vs late, and how many hours are required per day. Every member must be assigned to a schedule before their attendance can be measured. A Default Schedule is created automatically when you sign up, and most teams start by editing that one instead of building from scratch.

Getting there

Click Schedules in the left sidebar (briefcase-clock icon, labelled “Schedules” inside the page header).

What you’ll see

  • A sidebar on the left listing every schedule for your organisation, with a search field at the top and an Add new schedule button.
  • An editor on the right showing the selected schedule’s name, arrangement type, day-of-week selector, per-day time inputs, and Save / Delete buttons.

The default schedule shows a small DEFAULT badge in the sidebar.

Common tasks

Create a new schedule

  1. Click Add new schedule in the sidebar.
  2. Type a Schedule name (required).
  3. Pick an Arrangement:
    • Fixed: same start and end times every active day (e.g. 8am–5pm).
    • Flexible: set the required number of hours and minutes per day; the member can clock in anytime.
  4. Click the day letters under Days of the week to toggle each day on or off. Active days are highlighted; off days show as “Rest day”.
  5. For each active day, fill in either the Start / End times (Fixed) or the hours / minutes required (Flexible).
  6. Click Save.

Edit an existing schedule

Click the schedule’s name in the sidebar to load it. Make your changes and click Save.

Delete a schedule

  1. Select the schedule in the sidebar.
  2. Click Delete in the editor and confirm.

Note: A schedule can’t be deleted while it’s still in use. If any members are assigned to it, or any shift references it, the delete is blocked with an error notification. Reassign those members or remove the references first.

Tips

  • The Default Schedule is pre-populated on signup as 8am–5pm Monday–Friday (rest days on weekends). You can edit it like any other schedule, but you can’t change its DEFAULT designation: new members default to whatever schedule has that flag.
  • Use Fixed when everyone clocks in at a specific time of day and lateness matters. Use Flexible for hourly contractors or remote workers where only the total hours count.
  • For Fixed schedules: the End time must be after the Start time: the save will fail with a “Invalid times for [Day]” error otherwise.
  • For Flexible schedules: you must set at least some hours or minutes for each active day: a day with both at 0 is rejected as “Please set hours or minutes for [Day]”.

Note: Saving and deleting both require an active subscription.
