Onboarding Wizard
The onboarding wizard appears automatically the first time you sign in to a new TimePally organisation. It walks you through the minimum setup needed to start tracking attendance: creating a location, adding a member, registering an Android terminal, reviewing your schedule, opting in to WhatsApp summaries, and activating the terminal. Once you finish, the wizard never shows again for that organisation.
Getting there
You don’t need to navigate to it. The portal sends you to Onboarding Wizard automatically on first login. If you signed in and landed straight on the Dashboard, your organisation is already onboarded. You can still set up the same things from the regular sidebar pages.
What you’ll see
- A “Welcome to TimePally” header with the tagline “Let’s set up your account in six quick steps.”
- A numbered progress indicator at the top showing the six steps. Completed steps get a check mark.
- The current step’s title, a short subtitle, and a form area.
- Back, Skip (only when the step allows it), and Next buttons at the bottom. Next becomes Finish on the last step.
The six steps
1. Create your first location
Required. Enter a Location name (e.g. “Head Office”, “Main Campus”, “Sanctuary”) and an optional Address. If a location already exists on your account, the form pre-fills with it.
2. Add your first member
Required if you have no members yet, skippable if you already added one elsewhere. Fields:
- First name and Last name (required)
- Member code (optional: auto-generated if blank)
- Location (required, defaults to the one you just created)
- Schedule (required, defaults to your “Default Schedule”)
3. Register an Android terminal
Skippable if a device is already registered. Enter a Device name (e.g. “Front desk tablet”) and pick a Location. Saving this step generates the 6-digit activation code you’ll use in step 6.
4. Review your default schedule
Always skippable. TimePally pre-creates a Default Schedule at signup (8am–5pm Monday–Friday, weekends as rest days). Adjust the start/end times per day or tick Rest day to mark a day off. You can rename the schedule if you like.
5. Get daily WhatsApp summaries
Always skippable. Opt in to a daily attendance summary on WhatsApp: who showed up, who was late, and who was absent, sent every evening. Enter a WhatsApp number (the +234 country code is shown for you; just type the rest, e.g. 0703 000 0000) and tick I agree to receive attendance notifications via WhatsApp. Agreeing turns on the daily WhatsApp report; if you skip it, you can set this up later from Notifications → WhatsApp Attendance Report.
6. Activate the Android terminal
Always skippable. Shows the 6-digit activation code for the device you registered, with a Copy code button. The on-screen checklist tells you how to use it:
- Install the TimePally app on the Android terminal.
- Open the app and choose Activate device.
- Enter the 6-digit code when prompted.
- The terminal is ready once activation succeeds.
- Face enrollment is now available for admins.
Click Finish to mark onboarding complete and go to the Dashboard.
Tips
- Your progress is saved as you go. If you close the browser mid-wizard, the next sign-in resumes at the next unfinished step (the wizard re-uses anything you already created).
- You can re-open the 6-digit code anytime from the Devices page: you don’t need to memorise it.
- Steps 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 can be skipped and done later from their dedicated sidebar pages.
